A. I. Based Text Analyst Folashade Adesinaa participated in a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest at Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C.
Just before the city's 7 p.m. curfew went into effect, she and her fellow protesters were hit with flash-bang explosions and doused with tear gas. Everyone scrambled for cover with blurred vision and a passion for surviving the ordeal.
The young woman finds safe refuge through the kindness of a maintenance man working in the basement of St. John's Church. "You'll be safe here.", the slender black man whispers to her. "The madness of your ringing ears and blurred vision are nothing compared to what's happening outside."
She peeps through a crack of the boarded windows to witness an obese man holding a bible backward. Folashade mumbles, "Is this why I was gassed?" Then she passes out from exhaustion.
Folashade awakens on the soft cushions of an antique couch on the ground floor of a three-level, mid-1800s architecture-styled, private library, wearing period attire. She slowly gets up, with her eyes still foggy from the tear gas. Or that's what Ms. Adesinaa thought.
Gingerly touching her face, feeling for wounds, her fingers suddenly stumble over a pair of glasses placed on her face. She gathers her balance and slowly walks to the floor, trying to comprehend her immediate surroundings, seeking a clue explaining how she got to this place.
The bifocals on her face not only allow her to see clearly through the top lens but reveal the truth of what she sees through the lower glass. She is drawn to a book about the life of George Washington, written by a respected U.S. Historian. As she reads, the upper lens of her glasses reads the printed words, and the lower lenses show a video of the TRUTH.
